About
Kuniko Maeda is a Japanese artist based in London, who works mainly with paper, leather and textiles to create artworks, and installations for public and private space.
She specialises in sustainable textile design and incorporates Japanese traditional techniques and digital technology.
By exploring the possibility of materials and their unique properties, she allows the materials to speak and embrace natural formed abstraction.
She derives her inspiration from our daily surroundings and everyday objects, which tend to be overlooked and forgotten in a hectic urban life.
